Who we are

Pattress Systems Ltd was founded in 2022 by CEO Michael Burns, an industry professional with over 15 years of direct experience. Facing the new challenges posed by PAS 2035 regulations, Michael was inspired to create his patented pattress system. In doing so, he revolutionised the External Wall Insulation (EWI) industry.

In 2025, managing director Christopher Burns came on board, and the brand M&C Plastics was born. M&C Plastics was developed to solve the lack of options for builders looking to use safe, long-lasting pipe fittings.

Pattresses are wall mounting devices used to extend fixtures such as taps, satellite dishes, and lights (among others). Extension of fixtures is needed for External Wall Insulation (EWI) installation.

When PAS 2035 regulations were announced, traditional wooden pattress systems effectively became obsolete. The market lacked a solution, and CEO Michael Burns stepped up.

Manufactured in Glasgow and delivered across the UK, our patented pattress system is fully PAS 2035 compliant. The components are made from 5mm thick eco polycarbonate plastic and galvanised metal so they’re tough, rust-free, and built to last.

Our patented pattress system can also be installed at any point before, during, or after the completion of EWI projects. This offers a distinct advantage over traditional pattress options as it allows lights and cameras to remain functional throughout the duration of a job. This is especially important during the winter months and for properties with vulnerable tenants, where temporary loss of lighting or security can cause real issues.

Our system solves multiple practical problems: courtyards and gardens are no longer left in darkness, key safes remain intact and in place, and cameras stay operational. All of this contributes to a safer, more secure home environment. Additionally, using our pattress often reduces the number of required visits from an electrician to just one, which can cut labour costs by nearly half for many jobs.

While readily available metal pipe fittings work in the short term, they rust easily, become unsafe, and are difficult to install. M&C Plastics pipe fittings are made of strong plastic, and have been developed with ease of installation at the forefront of design.
